As you know, I’m a huge supporter of shopping local, using our high streets and bringing back to life our old haunts. So it’ll come as no surprise that I’m backing the latest project to bring The Olympus Theatre in Gloucester back to life.
In July, Barton Street was awash with police. ‘Oh no’ I hear you cry, but fear not, this was for positive reasons. You see it had been organised by Barton Station, who wanted to get local police cadets to visit the area and engage with the community. It’s all part of a survey to see what changes could be made to policing the area, to bring benefits to local residents.
The Olympus will host an engagement meeting later in the year to help move the idea forward. It’s magnificent to see the theatre becoming the heart of the community once more.
