Well, I can’t believe it. This is the first year in a very long time that I won’t be leading the procession around Covent Garden to pay the annual peppercorn rents. For this year’s Covent Garden Rent Ceremony has been cancelled.
I’m immensely sad, as for me marching to the brass band marks the start of the summer but with the current climate it wouldn’t be safe for the event to go ahead. I’ve got all my fingers and toes crossed for the ceremony to be back in 2021 – it’s such a fantastic event, right in the heart of the City of London.
For those of you who are also missing your fix, you can read all about last year’s ceremony here.
