1986, the year the world reacted to the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant disaster, little Prince William was only 3 years old and the Berlin wall was segregating the West of the capital from the impoverished East. Oh, it sounds like a lifetime ago, but during that very year Podsmead Nursing Home opened its doors for the first time.
Opened by Angela Harris, the home had only 11 beds but has since grown from strength to strength. I popped along to help celebrate the milestone and enjoy a slice (or two!) of delicious carrot cake. It was great to see the home in all its glory, it recently received a ‘good’ rating from the Care Quality Commission in recognition of the good care patients receive.
