I had the honour last week of welcoming the Queen to Hitchin in Hertfordshire as part of her Jubilee tour.  After leading the Royal car in a procession through the streets, I greeted her as she began her walkabout.

Her Majesty came straight over to me and I told her she was looking good. We had a little chat – it was lovely.

I met her previously when she came to Gloucester Cathedral in 2009. She’d heard that I would be acting as  toastmaster then and had asked if I could keep the volume down as she’d heard I was rather loud. I reminded her  about this when we met and she remembered all about it which was nice.

I think she is fabulous. Her enthusiasm for everything is incredible and it was lovely to meet with her again.
