As Town Crier and Deluxe Father Christmas aficionado, the festive season often begins early for me. This year was no different, I donned my first festive outfit for my great friends at Ely’s department store in Wimbledon.
You may have heard me mention Ely’s before. It’s one of my favourite stops in the capital and I’ve worked alongside them for many years now. As 1st November rolled around I found myself donning a Victorian green Father Christmas costume and parading around their magnificent store to drum up some muster for the festive season.
Only a day later I found myself working a similar gig in Camp Hodson department store in Newbury (good job I’m a big fan of a mince pie or two!). Only, this time I found myself donning the famous red suit that old Saint Nic is synonymous with.
There have been many stories over the years about why Santa’s outfit changed colour, with many believing that a certain fizzy drinks company is to blame. So, what colour should Santa be? Green or red? I’d love to hear your opinions!
