I think, in some ways, this lockdown has made us a more sentimental bunch. But it seems to me there’s been a lot of commemorations and occasions worthy of a celebration, and the latest one was the 200th anniversary of the birth of Florence Nightingale.
I, along with many others, shone a light (or six!) in my window on the 12th May to mark this important event. Of course, you may know that Florence Nightingale with dubbed ‘The Lady with the Lamp’ in a newspaper report during the Crimean War, as she was said to always be observed alone, with a lamp in her hand, helping patients.
It was therefore fitting that we celebrated this latest milestone by shining lights in her honour.
