Are you planning an event or an exhibition to commemorate the start of the First World War?
This summer will mark the 100 year anniversary of the start of WW1 and I feel passionately that we should remember this as the war that changed the course of history. That’s why I’ve had a new authentic khaki uniform specially made, complete with appropriate medal ribbons, to help commemorate this important period.
My character – Sergeant Barker – is a sergeant who saw service in the Boer War and the Indian War, but is now too old to be on active service. Instead, he would have been travelling around the country recruiting new young soldiers.
Over the next four years my role is to generate interest and commemorate the First World War. I’ll be attending events, exhibitions and parades as well as working with schools to make sure the next generation understands the importance of this period.
